make one king sized quilt for the new bed. 11-2-13 I should finish the scarf I started before the winter before taking on any new projects. 1-7-2015 I have decided to knit this quilt. Originally as a gift for my newly married brother (7 year is cotton, close enough). I'm making stripes and will connect them together once I have enough of them. I started knitting in March 2014 and have 6 stripes of 42 stitches x 74" in length. I took one "scarf" to vacation and my brother did nothing but complain about one dropped stitch which I picked back up one row later and it left one "hole". I no longer know if this is going to be a gift for him. As far as getting something made quickly, this is probably not the best option, but i bet that cover will be warm and last a long time.

I already know some of the basics. I need to learn enough to make something useful. I will learn how to make hats, mittens and socks. I would like to be able to make sweaters and blankets. I have been working on knitting and am halfway through my first project, a scarf. This is my first time following a pattern. I am calling this one done. I have 2 completed knitting projects and one finished crochet project. I can follow a basic pattern now. As of the end of 2014 I can follow most patterns and have completed a number of projects. I will continue to knit different items as I found that i quite like knitting, but is no longer a goal to complete

To learn simple sewing skills necessary for mending clothing by sewing at least 5 articles of clothing. PROGRESS: I repaired the little retaining loop on the back of one of my ties. Next up are my sweater and a couple leather pouches I've dreamed up. I'll call this skill completed when I've built a tiny little sewing kit. Get my "new" vintage sewing machine fixed up and learn to make skirts to sell in my Etsy shop. I have this skirt I bought in Japan that I'm pretty sure is handmade, though I bought it in a store. It looks fairly easy to make, so I want to try to learn how to make it myself and sell it. There's a consignment fabric shop not too far from where I live, I could make some good use out of old fabric this way. Got the machine fixed, though it apparently has some worn plastic parts that may be hard to replace. Guess I might have to look for another one soon.

Progress: 01/03/2013 - I have the basics down for knitting but I need to practice practice practice so that I can improve my skills. I also need to buy extra yarn and add to my preps for later use. I am going to include crochet in this because it uses the same supplies (at least the yarn) and I want it to be an alternative fiber art skill that I have. However, I will concentrate on knitting. This way, by adding crochet here, I can delete it as one of the 13 skills and add something else. (Is that legal - LOL!?!)
